Mrs Maureen Jones - National Treasurer
Frances Dean
Maureen Jones

I was enrolled in 1969, with two young children I
became involved with other young mothers making soft
toys for the Autumn Fayre’s. Unfortunately for a number
of years following, due to moving house, my demanding
job and my husband being at college for three evenings
a week, I was just paid my subscription and supported
the foundation where possible. When my husband
finished his evening teaching classes the situation was
eased. I started attending

weekly meetings.

A member of my foundation asked me if I would like to
go with her representing U.C.M. to Standing Conference
for Women’s Organisations meetings, I agreed, and
that was the start, I became the Secretary then the
Chairperson of Standing Conference for Women’s
Organisations in Leicestershire. A few years ago I had
the privilege of preparing and hosting afternoon tea at the
Leicester Tigers Rugby Ground in Leicester, for the
heads of the three main Faiths in England Bishop
Warlock, Bishop David Shepherd and the head of the
Methodist Church.

Marriage Care approached me during my term as
Diocesan President to join their team, I declined
this because of other commitments. I was until
recently Diocesan Treasurer for Family and Social
Care Commission.

At Foundation and Diocesan levels I have been
President, Secretary and Treasurer, also
Secretary/Treasurer for National Study Days
sub-committee.

I am anxious for future Continuity and Development
of The Union of Catholic Mothers.
